“I am thankful that nothing happened to any of my family members,” said Aidi while he and his family were busy cleaning their house.

Soft ground: The road pavement in Taman Melawati was also damaged in the 3pm incident. |
Ismail Ahmad, 40, the owner of the land above Jalan H4 said the area had also been hit by a landslide four years ago.
“This isn’t the first time it’s happening. The owners of the affected houses are lucky that my retaining wall managed to control the volume of the water, if not their entire houses would have been filled with mud.
“I believe the landslide happened because of water retention at the nearby Bukit Mas,” he added.
Ismail said that officials from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council came later in the evening and covered the slope with plastic sheets.
