KUALA TERENGGANU: The Syariah High Court here set Oct 21 to decide on the case of Kamariah Ali, a former religious teacher and follower of defunct religious sect Sky Kingdom, who was charged with declaring herself an apostate.
Syariah judge Muhammad Abdullah yesterday asked all parties for written submissions before the date.
Kamariah, a graduate of Al-Azhar University, was charged under the Syariah Criminal Offence Enactment (Takzir) Terengganu after she declared herself an apostate on July 21, 2005.
She could be fined RM5,000 or sentenced to three years' jail or both if convicted.
