Rescue op: Firemen and passers-by looking at the express bus lying on its roof after it plunged into a ravine near Kulai Tuesday. |
They were rushed to the Kulai Hospital. It is believed that the unidentified passenger was transferred to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.
Johor Baru (North) OCPD Asst Comm Ruslan Hassan said that the accident occurred at around 1pm on the Kulai-Johor Baru highway.
“We believe that the driver may have been speeding when he lost control of the vehicle,” he said.
ACP Ruslan said police believe the driver made a desperate attempt to swerve his bus back onto the road after hitting the divider.
“However, the bus hit a lamppost before it plunged into the ravine,” he said, adding that the bus landed upside down.
Police are still investigating if the bus driver had a record of previous traffic offences.
