Public warned against SMS rumours
By ROSLINA MOHAMAD
KUANTAN: The public was once again reminded that action could be taken against those who spread false SMSes that could bring about adverse effects, such as the latest one involving missing girl Sharlinie Mohd Nashar.
Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said everyone must think of the stress and hardship Sharlinie's family was going though now.
“Let the police do their work and do not spread lies as these can create disorder,'' he told reporters after attending a dialogue session with the residents of Lapang Besar flats here Saturday.
Fu, who is also Kuantan MP, was asked to comment about text messages stating that the five-year-old girl’s dead body had been found.
The false text messages, which had been spreading since Wednesday, also said that police were conducting DNA tests.
Five-year-old Sharlinie went missing from a playground about 200m from her house in Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya earlier this month.
