Tighter security at entry and exit points

JOHOR BARU: Johor police have tightened security at all 17 entry and exit points in the state in search of five-year-old Sharlinie Mohd Nashar.

Police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the efforts were being focused on preventing her captors from leaving.

“We are also increasing our intelligence to search for her.

“We are exploring all angles, including taking information from the public and following every lead,” he told pressmen after launching the Safe Home Campaign and Crime Prevention Campaign in Seri Alam here yesterday.

In an unrelated matter, DCP Mohd Mokhtar said a suspect had been identified for sending death threats to a state MIC leader.

“Initial investigations revealed that only one leader had been threatened. We are taking the matter seriously.” On the murder of state deputy MIC chairman Datuk S. Krishnasamy, he said the case was still being investigated.

“Please don’t jeopardise investigations by speculating. We are working round-the-clock to solve it,” he said.

He urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999 or the nearest police station.
