Botox is haram, says Selangor Mufti

MUSLIMS have been advised not to undergo Botox treatments as it is considered haram, reported Berita Harian.

Selangor Mufti Datuk Seri Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahad said the National Fatwa Council had decided to list the beauty treatment as haram as it had more adverse effects than good.

He said those providing Botox treatments should also stop offering such services.

“People like to do things that they shouldn’t. Do not go against religion for the sake of vanity. There are other ways and products that can make us look beautiful and we need not go against the fatwa,” he said.

Mentally retarded woman raped

> A construction worker raped a mentally retarded woman several times after offering her some pau (buns), reported Harian Metro.

The 26-year-old woman is now six months pregnant.

A relative said the construction worker, who is also a neighbour, frequently visited their house when the victim was home alone.

“She (the victim) told us that he always came to our home in Cheras offering her pau before she was raped,” said the relative, adding that they believe she was raped a few times last year.

The family confronted a 63-year-old man, suspected to be the rapist, but the man denied the allegations, saying that he was suffering from erectile dysfunction and was incapable of having sex.

A police report has been lodged and a suspect arrested.

Let Pak Lah decide on candidacy

> Puteri Umno chief Datuk Noraini Ahmad said MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu should not make statements about his candidacy before the Barisan Nasional chairman did, Utusan Malaysia reported.

She said Samy Vellu should respect Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who would decide on the candidates for the next general election.

Noraini was responding to Samy Vellu’s statement, who announced that he would defend his Sungai Siput parliamentary seat in the elections.

“Let the Barisan chairman decide who contests, and who doesn’t,” she said.
