Quake hits El Salvador, no injuries reported
SAN SALVADOR (Reuters) - A 5.9-magnitude earthquake shook buildings and electricity poles in El Salvador's capital on Saturday but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The quake's epicenter was 50 miles (80 km) south of San Salvador in the ocean at a depth of 64 miles (104 km), the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Very deep offshore tremors do not often cause major destruction.
Some people alarmed by the movement left their houses, but the Red Cross said there were no reports of people injured or property damage.
