Two Indonesians killed in landslide

JOHOR BARU: Two Indonesian workers were killed in a landslide that occurred at the construction site of the new RM500mil Hospital Permai at Jalan Persiaran Selasih, Tampoi.
Mahmud and Masri, both 36 and from Lambuk, were digging a hole that was 3.3m deep when the tragedy happened about 5.30pm Monday. Another worker Redianto, 25, who was with them managed to escape.
Johor Baru North deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Akhir Ishak said Mahmud’s body was found at 7.45pm while Masri’s was discovered five minutes later.
“Their bodies were sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for a post-mortem,” he said, adding that there were many other workers at the site during the incident.
The Johor Baru Fire and Rescue Department also despatched a team of 10 firemen, led by officer Ibrahim Omar, for search and rescue work.
