Happy ending for couple from different religions

RACE and religion proved to be no barrier for Fadil Ho Abdullah, 46, and Mardiana Abd Wabah, 32, who tied the knot after dating for eight months, reported Utusan Malaysia.

Mardiana said she did not expect her friendship with her colleague to blossom into love.

“I accept him just the way he is despite our previous different religions. It is great to marry someone from another race because I am able to learn more about the Chinese culture,” she said.

No barrier: Mardiana and husband Fadil entertaining guests at their wedding in Kuantan yesterday.

Fadil, who converted to Islam about a year ago, said he fell in love with Mardiana because she was beautiful and kind-hearted.

The couple decided to marry after their families gave them their blessings. Their wedding was a big celebration with 30 motorcycles accompanying the newlyweds to their bersanding ceremony, followed by a traditional Chinese tea ceremony.
