New Bills bring back confidence in institutions, says Abdullah
KUALA LUMPUR: The passing of the Bills to set up the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will correct any misconception the public still have on the integrity of the two institutions.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said it was a victory for the Government’s efforts in returning integrity to the judiciary and its fight against corruption.
“The confidence of the people in the judiciary and in the efforts to fight corruption will increase,” he said.
The JAC Bill was passed just before 8pm by the Dewan Rakyat during its second day of extended session while the MACC Bill was passed on Tuesday.
