Wedding plans go bust after HIV screening
A MAN identified as Kamal had to abandon his marriage plan after he tested positive for HIV during a pre-marital screening, reported Metro Ahad.
But the 24-year-old Kelantanese is adamant that he had never had a blood transfusion, indulged in free sex or taken drugs that could have infected him.
Kamal took the mandatory test in July as his wedding would be the following month.
His wife-to-be learnt about the test result and decided to call off the marriage. She also refused to take his phone calls.
Kamal found out later that her family had sent her to Terengganu.
A member of Kamal’s family suggested that he could have contracted the virus from his parents who had passed away.
His mother died in 2000 at the age of 40 due to brain cancer while his father died two years later of lung cancer at age 42.
Kamal said he did not notice any signs to show that his parents had suffered from HIV.
Kamal took two more HIV tests and both were positive.
He said he was now seeking homeopathy treatment, believing that he had a better chance of recovery.
Price of red chillies going down
> Kosmo! reported that the price of red chillies in the northern states dropped to RM10 per kg from RM15, the price during Hari Raya Aidiladha.
Penang Fama director Anuar Mohamed said the high price was due to bad weather and floods.
He said the Government decided to import 20 tonnes of red chillies from Thailand and China and this caused the price to dip.
