Cops still searching for Sharlinie
PETALING JAYA: The police have not stopped the search for Sharlinie Mohd Nashar due to the general elections.
“The search is still on. Our task force is still active though the manpower has been reduced,” Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed said at the district police headquarters here yesterday.
ACP Arjunaidi said although the 1,100 police personnel involved in the search have been deployed for the elections throughout the district, the task force is still investigating new leads.
“The temporary halt is only limited to house-to-house searches as most of the General Operation Force members are being used for the election,” he said.
The police had, on Feb 19, announced that they had stopped the search for Sharlinie.
ACP Arjunaidi said police were still getting daily tip-offs on the case and would check on information that could help them in their search.
On Jan 9, five-year-old Sharlinie was abducted from a playground in Taman Medan.
A search was mounted and Interpol was alerted.
