Adnan’s clean-up job
KUANTAN: State Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob has some cleaning to do in his campaign trails but it has nothing to do with a broom.
The theme is Adnan Cuci Anwar (Adnan cleanses Anwar), he said referring to the talks he would give to counter the allegations made by PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
I will go to places where he has delivered his speeches and do some washing sessions with the people, he told reporters after presenting financial aid to 186 people under the Urban Poverty Eradication Programme here yesterday.
Adnan said the session would only be carried out if Anwars speeches left a substantial impact on the people.
He denied that the action was damage control as it would be conducted after the talks were delivered.
Sometimes people are only interested to listen to him (Anwar) talk or hear him making jokes. Anwars talks are baseless tales, he said.
On preparations for the general election which appeared rather lukewarm, Adnan said it was because they were still compiling information and assessing the situation.
He said the next level would see more action by the party machinery in canvassing votes for Barisan.
On the lack of flags, bunting and posters of the candidates in many constituencies, Adnan said this was because nobody knew who would be picked in the first place.
The flags and posters are more for psychological warfare but the most important thing is the door-to-door campaigning which is more effective in getting the votes, he added.
