RM10,000 for old folks home

BETONG: The state government will give RM10,000 to the old folks home here after a fire on Tuesday night claimed the life of an 80-year-old widow.
MCA Youth chief and Bentong incumbent MP Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said the aid would help the home cover the costs of repair and refurbishment.
We also want to ensure that the management of the centre really takes care of the safety of the elderly residents here, he told reporters after visiting the home here.
The home currently has 24 residents.

She was later found unconscious and sent to the Bentong hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
On the alleged negligence on the part of the Bentong hospital staff, who refused treatment to rubber tapper Ng Hoong Chuen, 31, resulting in death, Liow said the government took the matter seriously.
If the staff were found to be negligent, we will take action against them.
I have also called the hospital director and ask him to ensure that the hospital staff improve their level of service, he said.
