Putting the shine back in Kinta Valley
By NG CHENG YEE
IPOH: Voters in the Kinta Valley have been urged to support the MCA so that it can fight for more incentives for businesses at the federal level.
Perak MCA chief Datuk Ong Ka Chuan, who is contesting the Tanjung Malim parliamentary seat, said many investment banks had rejected applications of investors who wanted to start their business in the Kinta Valley.
“This is because they do not see a good future for their businesses in this area.
“The Kinta Valley is also an area where no economic corridor is in the pipeline,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony of 10 new classrooms at SRJK (C) Bercham here Tuesday.
Therefore, Ong said he hoped the people in the Kinta Valley would give an opportunity for MCA candidates in the general election to bring development to the area.
“This former mining town used to be the wealthiest valley in Malaysia and we can relive those days by attracting multinational companies like Motorola, Intel and IBM to this part of the country,” said Ong, who is also MCA secretary-general.
He added that the MCA also promised to create two million high-quality jobs for the people.
Ong also reiterated the MCA’s plan to ensure that people here would stay back to work here after completing their studies in the area.
“We hope to develop the Kinta Valley into a happening place, which is active, and not only during festive seasons like Chinese New Year,” he said.
