JASIN: Lone MIC candidate R. Perumal, who is contesting for the Asahan state seat, is showing his concern and care for people in the constituency.

Perumal: I note down the problems they face and advice them on the correct channels to apply for help.
A first-time candidate, this former schoolteacher has been busy visiting the people and listening to their problems.

“There are many people here who are poor and in need of welfare support.

“From the ceramahs and places I have visited, I have heard of their plights and visited at least 30 families since nomination day,” Perumal said.

He said there were still people unaware of the assistance they could receive from the relevant welfare departments and agencies.

“When I meet the people, I note down the problems they face and advice them on the correct channels to apply for help,” he said after visiting two families in Nyalas in an interview.

He visited was a 24-year-old girl suffering from double kidney failure and a 33-year-old mentally challenged woman. Perumal promised to bring the cases up with to the welfare department to obtain monthly aid.

State MIC chairman and former Asahan incumbent Datuk R. Raghavan accompanied Perumal on his campaign rounds to boost support for Barisan Nasional.
