'Cop-killer' shot dead

KUALA LUMPUR: Police shot dead a man who was wanted for gunning down two policemen during a drug raid that went awry last October.

The man, identified as Soh Kee Seng, 35 from Kampung Melayu Subang was killed during a shoot-out after a 10-minute car chase from Desa Aman that ended in Taman Perindustrian Ehsan in Taman Ehsan, Kepong Saturday night.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Mazlan Mansor said a patrol car spotted a man behaving suspiciously inside a Proton Perdana and approached the car.

He said the suspect sped off when he noticed the patrol car approaching. The patrol car and a back-up unit were involved in a high-speed chase.

"The 10-minute chase ended in the industrial area where the suspect lost control of his car,'' he said, adding that Soh who tried to flee on foot fired a shot at the police.

The policemen returned fire hitting Soh in the head and chest.

Police found a parang, a packet of heroin and four live bullets from inside the car.

SAC Mazlan said police were looking for three more suspects who were said to be involved in the shooting last year, adding Soh was believed to be the main suspect.

Soh's body was sent to Kuala Lumpur hospital for a post mortem.

On Oct 25 last year Soh and his accomplices shot dead Lance Corporal J. Jaya Balan and Lance Corporal M. Alagesan during a drug raid that went awry.

Two others, Chief Inspector Helmi Zakaria and Chief Inspector R. Rajakumar who were also involved in the Kampung Desa Aman, raid were injured they were ambushed by Soh and gang.
