4mth-old baby dies after suspected abuse

IPOH: A four-month old baby boy, suspected of being a victim of abuse, died while on the way to Ipoh Hospital for treatment.
Ahmad Faizal Yahya of Taman Sri Rokam here died at 6.50am Sunday while his parents were sending him to the hospital.
Ipoh acting OCPD Supt Ibrahim Abu Bakar said the boy had developed breathing difficulties.
“He was however pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital's emergency ward,” he said.
“Suspecting that his son might have been abused, the father lodged a police report,” he added.
The post-mortem revealed that the boy suffered from internal bleeding in his head and had a broken ribcage.
“The case has been classified as sudden death pending statements from the boy's parents and his babysitter,” Supt Ibrahim said.
