SETIU: A husband and wife burglary team was nabbed by police 14 hours after breaking into their neighbour’s house in Kampung Merang and carting away RM13,000 in cash and belongings.
OCPD Deputy Supt Ghazali Mohamad said police received a report from a civil servant that his house had been broken into at 3.15am on Saturday.
He said a patrol car went to the site and a policeman noticed a motorcycle parked along the shoulder of a road leading to the village. Suspecting something amiss, the policemen took the machine back to the police headquarters.
DSP Ghazali said the police then informed the village headman that anyone who had lost a certain model of motorcycle could claim it at the police station.
A woman who turned up to identity the machine was detained, and upon interrogation spilled the beans. Another team detained her husband a few hours later.
DSP Ghazali added that police had recovered most of the stolen items and that the couple had been remanded for three days.
