Stay loyal to coalition, Najib tells Barisan MPs
BERA: Barisan Nasional MPs have been reminded to uphold loyalty to the coalition and remember that they were elected on the coalition ticket during the last general
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Barisan MPs should not betray the coalition, in reference to the Oppositions reported plans to entice them to cross over to form a government before Sept 16.
Najib said yesterday although he regarded this as a political gimmick, Umno and Barisan Nasional were taking it seriously.
Najib said he and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi were closing ranks with Barisan MPs while monitoring the situation.
MPs from Barisan should have principles, and remember they won because they contested as Barisan candidates, he added.
Earlier in Pekan, Najib said Pekan Barisans recipe for success could be used to win back the hearts of the people in the five states the coalition lost in the general election.
He said the BN victory showed that hard work to get close to the people could ensure success for the BN in the other constituencies as well in future.
He added that the majority garnered by Barisan in the Pekan parliamentary constituency was the biggest in the country.
We must be fair to all the people and help them regardless of their colour, race, religion and background, said Najib, who is Pekan MP.
