KLIA robbers planned RM3.5m heist at hotel
JOHOR BARU: The robbers involved in the RM3.5mil heist at the KL International Airport used a nearby hotel as a “meeting point” a day before the April 9 robbery.
It is learnt that the suspects had checked into three rooms at the hotel on April 8 to ensure that everything went according to plan.
Sources said that closed circuit camera footage showed the suspects had also used the hotel facilities.
It is learnt that of the four people who were arrested in Johor on April 18, one has since been released, as he was not involved in the case.
Three of the suspects were handed over to the Johor police on Saturday for further investigation as to where they obtained their weapons. A senior police officer confirmed that three of the suspects were now in Johor to assist in investigations
In the three-minute incident on April 9, six gunmen shot six people at the airport in Sepang and escaped with RM3.5mil in foreign currency.
