Baby dies of suspected abuse
IPOH: A four-month-old baby boy, suspected of being a child abuse victim, died while being sent to Ipoh Hospital for treatment.
Ahmad Faizal Yahya of Taman Sri Rokam died at 6.50am yesterday after his parents sent him to the hospital.
Acting OCPD Supt Ibrahim Abu Bakar said the boy was sent to the hospital after he developed breathing difficulties. “He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital’s emergency ward,” he said.
“Suspecting that his son might have been abused, the father lodged a police report,” he added. Post mortem revealed that he had internal bleeding in his head and a broken rib cage.
“The case has been classified as sudden death pending statements taken from the boy’s parents and his babysitter,” he added.
