Najib: Party anniversary this year more meaningful
KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Umno’s anniversary this year was more meaningful than before as the party clearly wants to state that it is a party that is still relevant.
“It is also a party that will defend the Malays but at the same time, our fight will ensure all Malaysians will prosper.”
MIC vice-president Datuk S. Veerasingam said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s speech clearly indicated that Umno was for all Malaysians and that whatever they do, it would be for every one.
Umno united: Some members listening to speeches at Umno’s 62nd anniversary celebrations held at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur Sunday. “Umno is the backbone of Barisan Nasional. His speech will give confidence to all its partners,” he said.
Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said the party welcomed Umno’s statement that they would continue to fight for all Malaysians.
“Abdullah also reminded everyone that a lot of work needed to be done by Barisan Nasional and Umno to win the confidence of Malaysians, especially the youth.”
