Unisem not affected by earthquake
KUALA LUMPUR: Unisem (M) Bhd said yesterday there is no major damage to the physical infrastructure of its factory in Chengdu, China, due to the severe earthquake that struck nearby Sichuan province.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, it said the epicentre of the earthquake was about 100 km away and all its employees, customers and vendors who were present at the factory at the time were evacuated and were safe.
As a safety precaution, it said, the factory was shut down for the remainder of Tuesday and would remain shut down on Wednesday while a complete assessment of the facility is carried out.
We will endeavour to apprise all stakeholders of the situation in a timely manner as it unfolds, it added. Bernama
