MCA hopes for more donations
KUALA LUMPUR: MCA hopes more donors will come forward to help victims of the earthquake in China.
Party president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said the Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) has been directed to take charge of the campaign to raise funds for victims at the party level.
Yesterday, MCA, Star Publications (Malaysia) Berhad and Magnum Corporation presented RM100,000 each to Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Cheng Yong Hua while Chempaka Buddhist Lodge, Selangor Wanita MCA and Federal Territory Wanita MCA donated RM10,000 each, bringing the total to RM330,000.
“The world is sad, especially the Malaysian Chinese, over the disaster in China.

“It is the only thing we can do for now.
“I hope the funds will continue to flow in,” Ong said.
Cheng thanked the Malaysian Government and its people for helping out.
“In Sichuan, the toll for the injured and dead is rising by the day. The earthquake has affected the roads, power supply and telecommunications network. I thank the international community for their good wishes,” he said.
