HLB gives US$100,000 to China quake victims
KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) joins the international community in sending aid to earthquake victims in Sichuan province in China with a US$100,000 donation made to Chengdu Charity Federation.
Chengdu City Commercial Bank Co Ltd (CCCB), in which HLB has a 20% stake, is also making a donation of one million renminbi to the same organisation.
“We take comfort in knowing that all our CCCB colleagues are safe and unhurt.
“There is no damage to the branches and they are operating as usual while taking contingency and safety measures,'' HLB group managing director Yvonne Chia said in a statement yesterday.

We take this role very seriously and are doing the best we can to help the community get back on its feet.
“We are in touch with our CCCB counterparts and are regularly getting updates. We will continue to monitor the situation there and will assist in whatever way possible,” she said.
CCCB is based in Chengdu city, the capital of Sichuan province.
