Giant killer now PKR state head
KOTA BARU: Giant killer Abdul Aziz Kadir, 45, formerly of Umno, who knocked out Kelantan Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Annuar Musa, 52, for the Ketereh parliamentary seat, has been made Kelantan Parti Keadilan Rakyat chief.
The political careers of Abdul Aziz, and another former Umno leader Datuk Ahmad Rusdi Ibrahim are now on the ascent.
Ahmad Rusdi, the former state Umno liaison secretary is set to be nominated as a senator by PAS, announced Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat at a recent ceramah.
Ahmad Rusdi joined PAS in 2005 after Umno had removed him from the Kubang Kerian Umno division for allegedly practising money politics.
Abdul Aziz was a Ketereh Umno division committee member who was considered a lightweight by the state Umno leadership in the run-up to the March election, when he caused a stunning upset by defeating Annuar in the latters stronghold of Ketereh and Kok Lanas.
He now replaces corporate man Nik Mahmood Nik Hassan, 62, as PKR liaison chairman.
Ahmad Rusdi had contested the Kok Lanas state seat but lost to Kelantan Opposition Leader Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad, the newly appointed political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Ahmad Rusdi is considered by many people in Kelantan to be a clone of Independent Pasir Mas MP Datuk Paduka Ibrahim Ali.
