KL-Singapore shuttle service ends on June 1

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines have mutually decided to terminate the Shuttle Agreement between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, with effect from June 1.

According to a joint statement by MAS and SIA, the termination of the agreement would not reduce flight frequencies or change the fact that a wide variety of fares were now available for this route.

The two national carriers started the shuttle service in 1982.

Both stated that the progressive deregulation of the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route and the ever-increasing use of the Internet for transactions such as booking of tickets and check-in had removed the need for a shuttle service.
