Dr M’s blog gets one million hits in just a month
PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamads blog, www.chedet.com, has chalked up more than one million hits in just a month.
Congratulatory comments were posted on his blog for hitting the mark yesterday with some calling him an official millionaire.
The former Prime Minister said some bloggers had described him hitting the target within a month as something phenomenal and a world record of sorts.
I do not know whether it is, he wrote in his latest posting.
To me, what is more important is that I have managed to generate enough interest to get that kind of traffic on my blog. It is quite an experience to be a blogger even though I am only a month old.
Dr Mahathir said he never thought he would become a blogger despite realising the importance of cyberspace during his tenure as prime minister, which caused him to set up Cyberjaya and the Multimedia Super Corridor.
He noted that the Government now recognised the importance of blogs where it was proposing to set up its own.
Dr Mahathir started his blog on May 1 to pen his thoughts and opinions. Describing himself as Dr Mahathir Mohamad Prime Minister of Malaysia 1981 - 2003, his blog also lists his events and newspaper articles.
In a more recent posting, Dr Mahathir called on Malaysians to support the campaign in making war a crime, a cause he spoke about while in England and Tokyo.
War, he said, was not the way to settle conflicts between nations nor was it a solution for Malaysia's foreign policy agenda.
