Package for steel and cement industries
KUALA LUMPUR: The Government may ease the current restrictions on steel and cement and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will announce details of a more liberalised market soon.
International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said yesterday that Abdullah would make the announcement on the total package in the next few days.
We have decided to look into how we can progressively liberalise the steel and cement industries.
Hopefully, there will be a much liberalised market, which is less controlled in terms of price and the export and import of it will be more transparent, he said after opening the MTA Malaysia 2008, Metaltech Malaysia 2008 and MIDA national seminar here yesterday.
