137 MPs to reject no-confidence motion against PM
MINGGUAN Malaysia has claimed that 137 Members of Parliament have pledged to reject any attempt to table a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.
Deputy Backbenchers’ Club president Datuk Bung Moktar Radin said he had also directed its members to get ready and arm themselves with “facts” to defend the Prime Minister if ever such a motion saw the light of day at the Dewan.
“However, as of now, we have not received any information about the tabling of such motion. Tomorrow’s (Monday’s) proceedings will go on peacefully and there will be no extraordinary event,” he said.
Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Yong Teck Lee had on Friday announced that its supreme council had endorsed a no-confidence motion against Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as Prime Minister.
Gerakan move
Berita Minggu reported that many SAPP members, who had disagreed with their president over the no-confidence motion, had declared their interest in joining Gerakan.
They were interested in the party after it spread it wings to Sabah recently.
At your stations
Mingguan Malaysia reported that Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad had advised some 3,500 members of the Petroleum Dealers Association of Malaysia (PDAM) against closing their station for eight hours on Thursday.
The association had threatened the move if the Government did not approve its request to increase the commission charges from 3% to 6% for the use of credit card to buy fuel at the stations.
“I admit that the low commission charges are too burdensome to the petrol station operators but everybody has to be patient until the discussion tomorrow (today).
“I hope PDAM will withdraw their station closure and I’m sure they know there are certain conditions they have to follow before a petrol station is allowed to close its operations,” he pointed out.
