Cooking gas delivery charges may go up
GEORGE TOWN: Cooking gas price may not be going up for now but the home delivery charges may be increased in wake of the fuel price hike.
Gas operator Lee Choon Hean, from Hutton Lane, said they would raise the price to cover their operation costs.
Currently, most Penang cooking gas operators are charging RM1 for home delivery for every 14kg gas cylinder.
“The association for cooking gas operators may meet soon to determine how much we might charge for the delivery service,” said Lee
He said although the cooking gas price remained unchanged at RM24.70 per tank “we cannot be sure of anything yet for now.”
Another gas operator K.B. Yeap, from Jalan C.Y. Choy, said that with consumer product prices going up, it would be unfair to them if they did not raise the delivery charges.
“We are also feeling the heat and bearing a heavier financial burden due to the fuel price hike,” he said.
