MCA’s Agnes Shim to make comeback
By MUGUNTAN VANAR
KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah MCA Wanita Chief Datuk Agnes Shim is making a comeback to active politics after a three-year suspension.
Shim, who was suspended from the party for her alleged involvement in acts against the party's candidate in the 2004 elections, came back to lead her former Kota Kinabalu Wanita division chief post uncontested after nominations closed on Tuesday night.
The former Senator, who took over the division post from incumbent Theresa Hun who declined to defend the post, is widely seen planning to make her comeback as the state Wanita chief post during the party election on Sept 6.
Shim herself has declined to make any comment of her plans but her supporters are widely expecting her to make a bid for the state Wanita chief post though they believe that she will watch various developments within the party before making a decision.
As nominations closed on Tuesday, 11 of the 20 state Wanita divisions saw new faces being returned uncontested to head the divisions while six other incumbents were returned unopposed.
Only contests for the Wanita divisions are seen in Tenom and Tawau where incumbents are in straight fights.
For the state Youth Wing, 14 of the 21 of its divisions saw new faces with most of its incumbents vacating their posts as they had passed the age limit including for the state Youth Chief Chew Kok Woh who is contesting for the Beluran division chief post.
Like the Wanita wing, contests for the Youth Chief post are only seen in Tenom and Tawau divisions.
