Anwar awaits polls petition
KULIM: PKR defacto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced he will contest in Kulim-Bandar Baharu if a court orders a by-election in the parliamentary constituency.
Barring any hindrance, I will contest in Kulim-Bandar Baharu, he told a gathering at the Chinese Recreational Club here last night.
He (current MP Zulkifli Nordin) is willing to give way and we will take good care of him, he said.
Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir has filed a petition claiming that Zulkifli failed to submit his expenditure statement when he contested for Kuala Langat parliamentary seat in 2004.
Zulkifli polled 22,255 votes against Abdul Azizs 5,583 in the March 8 general election.
The case is scheduled for hearing on Aug 19.
