Mum beats up three bogus cops
By ANDREW SAGAYAM
KUALA LUMPUR: A divorcee warded off three robbers by punching and kicking them when one of them tried to rape her 28-year-old daughter.
The robbers, who had gained entry into the house in Jalan Gombak by claiming to be police officers conducting a routine check on illegal immigrants, fled with cash and jewellery worth about RM9,000.
The 44-year-old divorcee was awakened by loud knocks on the door by men claiming to be police officers from Bukit Aman at 6am on Monday.
On opening the door, the men barged in and told the woman they had information that she was harbouring illegal immigrants and started ransacking the house.
They then forced the woman’s two daughters out from a room and ordered them to hand over their cash and valuables.
When one of the men tried to force himself on her 28-year-old daughter, the enraged woman kicked and punched the men.
Seeing her getting more violent and aggressive, the men fled.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Zakaria Pagan said the three were believed to be responsible for similar incidents in the district and elsewhere in the Klang Valley since June last year.
“We are investigating the case under Sections 392 and 170 of the Penal Code for robbery as well as impersonating a public servant,’’ he said, adding that the men were seen speeding off in a Proton Wira Aeroback which had been reported missing in Johor.
