Teenager challenges rep to debate on Buah Pala
GEORGE TOWN: A 19-year-old student has challenged Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N. Rayer to a debate over the Kampung Buah Pala land issue.
Dalbinder Singh Gill, who is Kampung Buah Pala Residents Association activist representative and Gerakan life member, said the issue was not over.
“It’s just the beginning,” he said.
“I’m authorised by the association to have this debate.
“Rayer can decide on the time, date and location,” said Dalbinder, who turned up alone at Rayer’s office at Lintang Gangsa to extend an invitation to Rayer, requesting for the debate.
About 20 of the village’s residents were supposed to accompany him but didn’t turn up due to bad weather.
“They could not come due to the heavy rain,” Dalbinder Singh said before giving the invitation to Rayer’s special assistant R.S. Sivalingam. He also called on Rayer to resign.
“I’m sure Barisan Nasional can win in the by-election as the Indians in the area have rejected Rayer,” said Dalbinder.
He said Rayer could send a representative if he could not make it himself.
When contacted, Rayer said he had yet to see the invitation.
