Perak Pakatan reps to attend Oct 28 state assembly
KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Rakyat representatives in Perak have assured that they will attend the state assembly meeting on Oct 28 for the tabling of the state Budget.
Former Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said all the Pakatan assemblymen would be present as they had received letters of notification from former Speaker V. Sivakumar.
“We are attending on the basis that Sivakumar is the legal Speaker. He is the lawful Speaker recognised by the state law and Standing Orders,” he told a press conference in Parliament House yesterday.
Pakatan assemblymen had earlier announced a boycott of the meeting as they claimed that Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan was unlawfully-appointed.
PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Pakatan would hold a leadership convention in Shah Alam on Dec 12 and 13.
The convention, he said, would be attended by 1,500 participants with each party sending 500 members.
