KEDAH state executive councillor S. Manikumar said that there are more than 350 Hindu temples built on private land and only 11 were registered with the Government, Makkal Osai reported.

Manikumar said temples must be registered to avoid complications and problems. He said that temple committees should seek the help of the state Hindu Sangam in registering their temples.

He was speaking to reporters after presenting Deepavali hampers at a function organised by Sri Porpathy Vinagar Temple in Taman Selasih, Kulim, on Saturday.

>MIC Youth adviser S. Vell Paari said a three- to five-year period was needed to draw up a proper guideline to prevent temples from being demolished.

Vell Paari said that a committee comprising representatives from all state governments, political parties, civil societies, religious bodies and temple representatives should be formed.
