Competition to hone students’ business skills
KUALA LUMPUR: Tertiary-level students can hone their business skills and improve their graduate employability by participating in the HSBC Young Entrepreneur Awards (HSBC YEA) 2009/10 which is back for its ninth year.
The competition which also seeks to sharpen students’ creativity as well, is open to teams of up to three members who are pursuing diploma or degree studies at a higher education institution in Malaysia.
HSBC YEA also runs concurrently in five other countries: Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei and Bangladesh, and will culminate in the grand finals to be held in Malaysia.
HSBC Bank Malaysia executive director and deputy chief executive Jonathan Addis said that the competition aims to expose students to the business world and cultivate their intererst in entrepreneurship.

Gold award winners from each country will compete at the regional level. The national-winning team will also receive a cash prize of RM15,000.
In the first round of the competition, students submit their business ideas online.
Students can enter through the HSBC YEA website at www.asiayea.com. The closing date for entries is Dec 12.
