‘Give MCA some time’, says Najib
KUALA LUMPUR: MCA leaders must be given time to sort out the party’s internal problems, Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.
Najib said he did not want to publicly state what possible steps could be taken to put the party back on track.
“I have met with the MCA leaders and I want them to sort out their party problems,” he said. “Give them a little more time.”
Najib was speaking to reporters after chairing the National Innovation Council meeting at Putra World Trade Centre here yesterday.
He was asked to comment on MCA’s unity plan.
Najib said he reminded the leaders that personal differences should be set aside for the good of the party and to regain the Chinese community’s confidence.
What was important now, he said, was that the MCA leaders should be committed to making MCA a party that was united, strong and one that not only had the confidence of the Chinese community but Malaysians as a whole.
Najib reiterated that he had advised MCA leaders that their solutions should lead to a stronger MCA.
