Dept still probing Beringin crash
KUALA LUMPUR: The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) is still investigating the cause of the aircraft crash that killed a trainee pilot in Lembah Beringin, Rawang, on Thursday.
DCA inspector of accidents investigation chief Idrus Abdul Rahman said probes were under way but it was “too early” to determine the cause of the crash.
“We will be investigating three possible factors — if the plane had problems, bad weather or if the pilot made a mistake,” he said. He said three investigators were sent to the scene to inspect the crash site before the Eagle twin-seater light plane wreckage was sent back to the plane’s manufacturing plant in Malacca.
Idrus said that at the time of the accident the weather condition in the area was less than desirable because it was raining. He expects investigators to find the cause in a week’s time.
The pilot, Mohd Ishan Sayyid Abu Tahir, 22, was buried at the Jalan Kuari Muslim cemetery in Cheras after Friday prayers.
The Royal Selangor Flying Club trainee was on his last solo flight before he was due for his pilot’s licence test.
About 100 personnel from various agencies were roped in for the search operations.
