Isa lashes out at PAS

PORT DICKSON: Barisan Nasional candidate for Bagan Pinang Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad said PAS leaders have gone on the offensive by conducting personal attacks on him in their campaigns.

He said they are doing this because they know that they cannot get the people to be interested in what they can offer for the constituents if they win the seat.

“I’ve been told that PAS leaders like Salahuddin Ayub want to reveal programmes that I failed to carry out during my term as Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar.

“Salahuddin himself should ask Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat what he has done in Kelantan before talking about Negri Sembilan,” he added.

Isa said the Negri Sembilan constituents know all about his efforts to develop the state, adding that the work is being carried out successfully by his successor Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

Carry-on campaigning: Isa carrying 11-month-old Kyra Khairul Anuar when attending a programme organised by Teluk Kemang Kemas.

“Negri Sembilan is better developed than Kelantan,” he said in his speech during a Hari Raya gathering at Taman Port Dickson Utama last night.

Isa reminded the people that PAS will leave Bagan Pinang once the by-election is over.

He himself had helped plan the housing development in the housing estate.

“I’m sure the people of Port Dickson will never forget me, and I call on you to vote for me,” he added.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who also attended the dinner, asked the people not to be taken in by claims by the opposition parties that they are doing a better job for the people compared to the Barisan.

Citing an example on education, he said the opposition made a big fuss over the funding of one or two million ringgit to Chinese and Tamil schools.

“The Barisan Nasional government had given RM7bil to government-run schools.

“We paid RM1.6bil in wages for teachers for Chinese and Tamil schools alone,” he added.

Muhyiddin told the people that Isa is the best choice to be their representative in Bagan Pinang since he understands their problems.
