Isa: Appreciate govt efforts, not find fault

PORT DICKSON: The gruelling campaign has not slowed down Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad, 59, who continues to push forward in the last lap leading to Sunday’s by-election.

The Barisan Nasional candidate, a former Negri Sembilan mentri besar, is going all out to drive home the point that the people, especially fishermen and farming folk, have benefitted immensely from government programmes.

“Many of us don’t realise how much the Government has done for us, but choose only to find fault,” he said.

“We must be grateful for these things and not be armchair critics. We cannot allow ourselves to be fooled by the Opposition who has nothing good to say about our leaders,” he said at the launch of the Bumi Hijau programme organised by the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry at SK Teluk Kemang near here.

Isa said Malaysia is a prosperous nation and all Malaysians had a duty to ensure peace was maintained at all times.

“No one has starved to death in Malaysia. We only have had cases of people dying due to over-eating,” he said to laughter.

He pledged to spend the remaining days of the campaign to explain to the people the benefits and changes that have been brought about by the Barisan Nasional under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister Datuk Johari Baharom, who was also present, endorsed Isa’s leadership credentials, saying he had led the state successfully at one time.
