Chinese President Hu arrives for 2-day visit
SEPANG: Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived at the KL International Airport here Tuesday for a two-day visit.
Hu, accompanied by his wife, Liu Yongqing, arrived at 3.30pm.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat received him on arrival.
Hu then proceeded to the Parliament Square for a state welcome before having an audience with Yang diPertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Negara.
Later he will receive a courtesy call from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and attend a state banquet at Istana Negara.
Tomorrow morning, the Chinese president will have a meeting with Najib at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya.
Several memoranda of understanding (MOU) are expected to be signed during the meeting, followed by a joint press conference by the two leaders.
Meanwhile, his wife will have a separate programme.
Hu will attend a luncheon hosted by Najib at Shangrila Hotel in Kuala Lumpur before visiting Malacca.
Hu and his wife are scheduled to depart for Singapore from KLIA at 4.30pm Wednesday. - Bernama
