IPOH: The agent provocateur who helped nab two former PKR state executive council (exco) members and four others for corruption had no issue with the hiring of prostitutes by the then Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA).

Businessman Mohamad Imran Abdullah, 34, told the Sessions Court here on Tuesday that he merely followed instructions from ACA enforcement officer Mohd Firdaus Idris.

”On Aug 13, 2008, Firdaus told you that he would arrange for accommodation and the services of immoral women.

”Were you not puzzled that a government department could do that? Or did you know of their plans?” Mohamad Imran was asked by defence counsel Surjan Singh during cross-examination.

In his testimony previously, Mohamad Imran had told the court that Firdaus had arranged for an apartment in Batu Feringgi for Perak Tengah district councillor Zul Hassan, 45, businessman Fairul Azrim Ismail, 31, and Perak Development Corporation technician Ruslan Sahat to stay in.

Arrangements were also made for three Chinese national women to go along with them on the trip, the court was told.

Zul and Fairul Azrim, along with state exco members Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu, 57, and Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, 52, and former Perak Tengah district councillor Usaili Alias, 56, are facing various corruption charges over their involvement in a proposed multimillion-ringgit development project in Seri Iskandar.

The charges against Ruslan were dropped after his death in August.

Earlier in Tuesday’s proceedings, Mohamad Imran admitted that prior to the trip, he had told Ruslan in their Aug 11, 2008, phone conversation that it would be great if Jamaluddin could come along to Penang.

Mohamad Imran claimed that he had been instructed by Firdaus to broach the subject.

”Firdaus did not explain why it was important for Jamaluddin to go to Penang.

”But at first, he did not believe Usaili’s claim that Jamaluddin was involved in such matters (being able to obtain projects),” Mohamad Imran said.

Asked by Surjan, who is representing Usaili, if he had already known at the time of the conversation if pinhole cameras would be installed at the Sri Sayang Apartment unit where the group would be staying in, Mohamad Imran said he only found out about the cameras on the morning of Aug 14, 2008.

Mohamad Imran went on to deny that it was he or Firdaus who wanted Jamaluddin to go to Penang so that the latter could be filmed with the Chinese national women.

He further denied that Firdaus had received instructions from certain quarters within Barisan Nasional to trap and blackmail the two former exco members.

Hearing before Judge Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh continues Wednesday.
