Net-savvy generation will judge actions, govt men told
KOTA KINABALU: Senior government officers must be prepared to be judged by an Internet-savvy generation that can easily spread the word about their performance, Datuk Musa Aman said.
The Chief Minister said that in the past, unfavourable actions taken by certain quarters like the district officer might go unnoticed but all these have changed with youths now using the Internet extensively.
“They even have their own websites, blogs and social networks to write about their experiences,” he said, adding that people could now easily evaluate any action taken by government agencies.
Musa said district officers should change their attitudes and be proactive in ensuring that any projects within their jurisdiction were implemented well.
“We need this change to ensure the people, particularly youths, remain confident in the government,” he said when launching a conference of Sabah District Officers here yesterday.
Musa said district officers played a key role in ensuring the government’s planned development programmes, such as the Sabah Development Corridor, were successfully carried out.
“What is important is that we cut the slack and work is finished off as quickly as possible,” he added.
