SPM on from Nov 18 to Dec 16
PETALING JAYA: The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination will be held nationwide from Nov 18 to Dec 16.
Education director-general Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom said a total of 465,853 candidates will sit for the examination in 3,569 centres.
“Candidates are reminded to bring their identity card and SPM candidate form (Borang Perakuan Calon Peperiksaan SPM Tahun 2009) with them every day,” he said in a statement Thursday.
He reminded students to check the examination timetable to be sure of when they needed to sit for their papers.
“The Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (MES) would like to remind all candidates to check for the latest updates through the media,” he said.
Alimuddin said state directors and school principals had been briefed on all preparations related to any possible floods.
Schools, he added, which are likely to be affected by floods have been asked to provide an alternative room for the examination.
“Candidates who are likely to be affected by floods should be identified to ensure that any assistance such as accommodation, food and other needs can be easily provided,” he said.
Alimuddin said the MES has also issued a circular on guidelines for avoiding illnesses during the examination.
“Candidates and their families must follow the updates, particularly those from the Education and Health ministries on Influenza A(H1N1),” he added.
He also advised candidates and their families to inform the school, district education office, state education department or MES if they have any infectious illnesses.
An SPM operations room would be operational from Nov 17 to Dec 16 at the syndicate between 7am and 7pm. It can be reached at (03) 8889-3601/ 3809/ 3582/ 3520/ 3551/ 3030 and faxed at (03) 8889-3010/ 5561/ 3445.
