Invite speakers okayed by Jais
Mosques or surau officials in Selangor risk being sacked if they choose to invite speakers who are not approved by the Selangor Religious Islamic Department (Jais) to give sermons.
Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs, Infrastructure and Public Amenities state chairman Datuk Dr Hasan Ali said it was important to regulate sermons to ensure they were not peppered with political issues or used for personal attacks.
“Jais has issued a circular to all mosques to adhere to the ruling in order that the sermon does not create restlessness among Muslims. All have been told not to bring up political issues, personal matters in relation to anyone and not add to the approved sermon text,” he said in reply to a question from Ismail Sani (BN-Dusun Tua).
