Name ‘third party’ in KL-Jakarta rift, says MP
PETALING JAYA: A Barisan Nasional MP and former minister has called on Malaysian and Indonesian authorities to make public the “third party” allegedly involved in the propaganda to strain ties between the two countries.
Datuk Mohd Zin Mohamed, who is Sepang MP, said that as elected representatives, the authorities should know the identity of the third party in the spirit of the “prosper thy neighbour” policy.
“Is it an individual, an organisation or a neighbouring state?
“We should be aware of this as we want to continue our good bilateral relationship with Indonesia,” he said in response to Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman’s statement in Parliament on Monday about the existence of such a third party.
This group, Anifah had claimed, was trying to blow up minor issues like the pendet dance, abuse of maids and Manohara (the estranged wife of a Kelantan royalty) and create animosity between the two countries for their own politically motivated agenda.
Mohd Zin, who is the former Works Minister, added that the recent anti-Malaysian sentiment in Indonesia would not have been blown out of proportion if the cultural issue had not been exploited by this group.
