Treatment leaves woman with scar
KUALA LUMPUR: A mother of two has a permanent scar on her right arm after undergoing cosmetic surgery to slim down following the birth of her second child.
The businesswoman, who only wanted to be known as Yee, 23, from Cheras, said she sought help from a slimming centre last year.
“My right arm was swollen after the final session in March. I went back to the centre and they treated me and gave me antibiotic pills,” she told a press conference organised by the MCA Public Service and Complaints Department here yesterday.
Ugly marks: Yee showing the scar to Chong at the press conference in Kuala Lumpur Thursday. Yee, who paid RM2,998 for the five slimming sessions, said her wound got worse after taking the antibiotics twice.
“I went to a skin specialist and was advised to undergo surgery to remove the pus,” said Yee, adding the operation at a private hospital cost her more than RM5,000.
Yee sought the help of department head Datuk Michael Chong after the centre failed to compensate her.
Chong said he would provide Yee with legal advice before deciding on the next course of action.
